In Search of Souvenirs is appreciation. Its mindfulness. Its relishing in every moment of your travel. My goal is to share my solo-travel adventures to inspire you to see the world. But as someone with a budget, I know the pressures to maximize your trip can scare your wallet. I will share my trips and tricks to traveling frugally while feeling like you are living lavishly.
My Travel Journey
I am Hanna. I am 25 and live in southern Indiana. My relationship with travel began like most Midwest kids’: summer vacations to Florida and occasionally visiting out of state family (in my case: Louisiana). My family members were not world travelers outside of military bases and my mom’s semester abroad in France. My desire to travel grew while I was in high school. I started taking Spanish classes and learning about Hindu art. I was exposed to idea, practices, foods, and celebrations that i would never encounter in my daily life. I longed to see them in person.
My freshman year of college I made friends with foreign exchange students— deepening my longing to experience far-away concepts myself. I planned my first trips without my parents: a Disney world trip on a shoe string budget for me and my roommates, and a weekend getaway to Chicago with my boyfriend. Once I had conquered those small trips, I knew I could take on the world.
